DHS Shutdown: Travel Chaos, TSA Pay Missed, & Political Blame Game

The DHS shutdown, lasting over four weeks, has led to unpaid TSA employees and significant travel disruptions, including airport delays. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and airline CEOs criticize Democratic lawmakers, particularly Chuck Schumer, for the ongoing impasse.

. According to a report by CNBC last week, Democratic lawmakers suggested a costs that would give funding for the TSA, Coast Guard, Federal Emergency Situation Management Agency, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Safety Company, but it was blocked.

“Americans– who stay in your districts and home states– are tired of long lines at airports, traveling delays and flight cancellations caused by closure after closure,” the letter claimed, including that travel related to the Spring Break, along with the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, can be affected as a result of the shutdowns.
